"Food is often representing the its culture itself"

This is a Japanese theatre production performed by young theatre artists from Japan. The piece is about a Japanese traditional food called "Natto", which is also considered as a common healthy food in our culture. But at the same time some people doesn't like it because it smells bad and gets really sticky when you eat it.

 

Nattō (納豆) is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans that have been fermented with Bacillus subtilis var. natto. It is sometimes served as a breakfast food. Nattō is often considered an acquired taste because of its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky, slimy texture. So we found that it is really interesting to create a theatre piece by using the idea that is based on this controversial food. We try to reconstruct the way of seeing Japanese culture by combining theatre and this food. And trying to explore the big question "where human nature came from and where are we going next?" though Natto’s perspective.

 

Of course there will be the chance to taste Natto food during the show :) So not only watching the performance, you can also enjoy the food!

In this Universe, there are always struggle for existence between creatures and matters . Some of them try to invade others for the purpose of new life and new colony, and some attempts to coexist each other sharing colony.Somewhere in this galaxy, Millions of light-years away from the earth, there was a planet where there were another life. However, because of the pandemic outbreaking of the plague, most of the life on the planet had extinct. There were few Bacteria survived from this disaster, but they had to leave the planet and seek other places for them to live their new life in the galaxy. The main character of this story, “Nattou Bacteria” is also looking for new planets to migrate. And after on the long time of their journey, - they are now about contacting the planet called “the Earth”.
