ada19 ADA19 – navigating obstacles, celebrating companionship.

19 years of ada Studio, that’s 1,345 artists who have rocked 497 performance evenings!

Ada Studio would no longer exist without the artistswho support, drive, question and celebrate our work. But after 19 years, we are also increasingly asking ourselves where many of the artistshave gone who threw their first works into the ada Studio and went out into the world with high hopes. We don’t have to fool ourselves – the label of emerging choreographerhas nothing to do with content and a lot to do with marketing and even more to do with the state of our society. Anyone who is not visible and remains visible on their own is out. The disappearance of female artistsfrom the (Berlin) dance floor who have failed to make the transition from emerging to mid-career or established for a variety of reasons is a disaster. And it’s all the more of a disaster because it’s about a lack of appreciation and a lack of interest in the detours and diversions in (artistic) careers.

For “ada19”, we haveinvitedfive dance artistswho have played an immense role in the ada Studio and its ongoing development with their work and beyond. These five are representative of the many others whoventuredinto the professional work of achoreographerat ada Studioand whose traces we have lost in the years since or who are still present in very different ways.
