Afrobatics School of Skillz: Thomas Kunfira, Meier Eden | Kuyum Arts BACK TO THE ROOTS – YOUTH DAY KUYUM DANCE PLATFORM 25 | Spielraum

SPIELRAUM – The Days of the Independent Performing Arts Community in Berlin

On 14 September, we cordially invite you to a special programme day at Theaterhaus Berlin | Mitte – the youth day of this year’s KUYUM dance platform. Experience the creative work of Kuyum Arts with their clown show Back to the Roots and celebrate a day full of music, dance and community with us.

The festival itself then continues from 17 to 21 September at Uferstudios: the fifth edition of the KUYUM Dance Platform offers a unique stage for neo-African choreographies, contemporary dance and intercultural exchange.

Back to the roots – When two brothers argue because one of them wants to become a famous internet star, there’s not a dry eye in the house! Whether young or old – everyone laughs along here!
Join the two clowns on their turbulent journey full of humour, misunderstandings and crazy ideas. The art of clowning comes from Africa – and that’s exactly what the story is about. In a playful and humorous way, the audience gets to know the colourful, creative and deeply rooted clown culture of the African continent. Look forward to a show with colourful fun, wild acrobatics and a surprising ending – inclusive dance and acrobatics for all children and adults.

After the show, a participatory activity and workshop will be conducted with the audience, where children and families can try out their own bodies to better understand the art of clowning and acrobatics.
