Bette Davis… “Fasten Your Seatbelts!” – a performance that spans the life of the Hollywood star from 1936 to 1985. In six scenes, this solo evening sheds light on a life full of triumphant successes, love, tragedies and conflicts. Bettina Lohmeyer takes the audience to a duel in Jack Warner’s office, then to the cemetery in Maine, on to a lonely home, back to the set for filming in Los Angeles, to the Oscars and finally to the last chapter in Bette Davis ́ life..
Bette Davis (1908-1989) was one of the biggest film stars in Hollywood: she appeared in more than 100 films, won two Oscars and was honoured with many other awards. Bette Davis was uncompromising, fought for better scripts, had no qualms about playing antagonistic characters and always wanted to be truthful. “Hollywood wanted her to be nice – she wanted it real.” Her career lasted six decades and she was only passionate about one thing – her work. A life worthy of a film!
