Maher Dance Company BETWEEN HERE AND THERE – From conflict to choreography | LANDSCAPES 4.0 FESTIVAL

PREMIERE. The dance production delves deep into the experiences of people who have suffered the hardships of war in different parts of the world. Powerful expression and intense movements convey the spectrum of diverse emotions, from confusion and fear to overcoming pain and the power of human resilience.

The fusion of traditional sounds with modern dance elements creates a connection that makes the stories immediate and tangible and at the same time links the past with the present, old roots and new realities. The choreography conveys emotional intensity, deep conflicts and memories; sometimes gentle and flowing, sometimes abrupt and painful, embodying inner turmoil.

BETWEEN HERE AND THERE is a moving appeal for compassion and understanding for one another and makes us realise that behind the statistics and news about war and flight, there are real people with real emotions and experiences. Supported by contemporary dance and krump, traditional music and modern sounds, the choreography interweaves different cultures in the stories of survivors and shows the resulting challenges.

The MAHER DANCE COMPANY brings together dancers from different backgrounds and integrates both Middle Eastern and European dance styles with the aim of illuminating social issues from different angles.
