musikfonds COMPOSER IN THE LOOP – exploring AI in music

How is artificial intelligence changing musical creation? What are the limits of collaboration between man and machine? Will the uniqueness of human creativity continue to exist in the future? These and other questions are the focus of “Composer in the Loop”, an all-day event organised by the Musikfonds at the Radialsystem.

“Composer in the Loop” provides insights into AI-supported composition processes. Over the course of an entire year, ten musicians will explore the opportunities and risks of AI-based composition as part of the Musikfonds Artificial Intelligence Scholarship Programme. The focus is on individual artistic positions that counter the largely uncontrollable spread of corporate AI with creative alternatives.

In short live performances and installations, artistic strategies will be presented that explore new ways of dealing with AI in music and at the same time reflect on the far-reaching social implications of AI technology. A special focus is placed on open-source tools that emphasise the independent, experimental spirit of the scholarship holders.
