“Davor/Danach”, written by Stuart Matthew Price (music and lyrics) and Timothy Knapman (book and additional texts), was commissioned by a theatre in Tokyo, where it premiered in November 2014. After several productions in Europe, “Davor/Danach” is now receiving its German premiere in Berlin in a new production by Michael Heller:
Each of us has that one great, lost love – the one that broke our hearts, haunts our dreams and that we can never forget. But what if fate gave you a second chance? Ami and Ben get this chance when they meet again in a picturesque setting several years after their relationship was characterised by mistakes and misunderstandings. It turns out that Ben can’t remember anything after a car accident. Feelings immediately flare up again in both of them – but can their relationship work if Ami doesn’t play her cards straight?
A renowned musical duo can be seen in the leading roles: Sidonie Smith, a native of the USA, became known in German-speaking countries through “Sister Act” and “Naturally Blonde” at the Vereinigte Bühnen in Vienna. Since then, she has played a number of leading roles at major theatres, including Marylin in the musical “Wüstenblume” at the St. Gallen Theatre and Mary Magdalene in “Jesus Christ Superstar” at the Bad Hersfeld Festival. She was most recently seen in “Tarzan” in Stuttgart. Dennis Weissert plays alongside Smith. The winner of the 2015 German National Singing Competition was most recently seen as Eddie in “Sister Act” at the Staatstheater Augsburg and before that in the “Arise” show at the Friedrichstadtpalast Berlin. Before that, he played Joe Gillis in “Sunset Boulevard” and Hunter in “[title of the show]”, among others.
