At the heart of the performance is a saltwater fountain, extending into sculptural furniture where audiences can lie down, feel rhythmic vibrations, and sample liquids. Composer Genoël von Lilienstern blends New Age influences, field recordings, microtonal synthesizers, voices, and subsonic sound, while four dancer-singers guide the audience through intimate sensory experiences.
Through the interweaving of voice, choreography, vibration, taste, and sign language, Genoël von Lilienstern and La Cage shape a layered, collective composition.
Der Ozean is a multisensory dance & music performance by La Cage, exploring the contradictions of parenthood — tenderness and exhaustion, intimacy and dependency. The work is created for Deaf and hearing audiences, with or without babies and is presented in cooperation at Ballhaus Ost, Berlin, this October.
