MUSETHICA MUSETHICA CONCERT WITH JOHANNES MEISSL

The first Musethica concert week in Berlin in 2026 will take place from 21 to 28 March. During this week
, professor of chamber music and violinist Johannes Meissl will teach and accompany four young
musicians currently studying at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. Together they will perform string quintets by Mozart and Beethoven as well as solo pieces. Johannes Meissl is Vice-Rector for International Affairs and Art at the mdw in Vienna, co-director of the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy), teaches numerous courses and summer academies worldwide, and has been strongly committed to Musethica for many years. The young musicians:
Kaori Furusawa, violin
Denis Valishin, viola
Elena Küssner, viola
Heddi Raz Shahar, cello

The Musethica session is a great learning experience for the music students. Over six days, they play up to three concerts a day, mostly far away from classical concert halls and in front of audiences who have little or no exposure to classical music. The concerts take place in venues such as a women’s prison, a hospice and a neighbourhood club in Berlin-Köpenick, a school with a focus on special education and an art workshop for people with disabilities.
The primary goal of the training method is to strengthen the performance practice of music students. In the audience discussions, which are an integral part of Musethica concerts, themusicians oftengainnew perspectives, both on individual works and on their role as professional musicians. We are delighted to have gained a new partner for this session: the Galerie Amalienpark in Pankow is the new Musethica venue. One of the two public concerts of the week will take place there.

Admission to the Musethica concerts is free of charge, but advance registration is requested.
