Culture needs strong voices, reliable structures and, above all, solidarity. In the run-up to the Berlin House of Representatives election on 20 September, the second week of action for the #deinestimmefürkultur campaign, organised by the #BerlinIstKultur alliance, will take place from 2 to 12 September. Through numerous events and activities, cultural institutions, associations and initiatives across Berlin are joining forces to highlight the importance of a diverse, freely accessible and sustainably secured cultural landscape.

As part of the action week, on Friday 4 September from 3 pm, we are inviting artists, cultural practitioners and anyone interested to an information, discussion and networking day entitled ‘Strengthening the Independent Arts Scene’ at theaterhaus berlin in Mitte.

What advice and mentoring services are available to artists in the independent performing arts? What framework is needed to ensure fair working conditions in the independent performing arts? How can a theatre career be successfully balanced with family life? And how can cultural participation be made sustainably accessible to all?

The event is organised by theaterhaus berlin, LAFT Berlin, the Performing Arts Programme Berlin, Bühnenmütter e.V., Szenografie-Bund e.V., Berliner Spielplan Audiodeskription and Förderband e.V.
