Given the precarious funding landscape for freelance female artists in Berlin, Germany and beyond, self-choreographed solo works have become common practice. However, the development process can be a lonely and challenging one when solo works are produced independently solely due to a lack of support or limited resources. autumn chaos was created as a support system for such working methods. Five dancers and choreographers joined forces to offer one another advice and practical support during the individual creative processes involved in developing solo works.
‘autumn chaos’ encourages Berlin audiences to engage with the dance visions of local, ambitious freelance artists and to observe how what is to be expressed takes shape
On 21 October, we will be presenting these works at a relatively early stage of development. As part of the ‘spring disaster’ showcases next spring, we hope to be able to present versions of the works that have been further developed through a longer rehearsal process.
Artistic works grow when they are seen. Accordingly, disasterchaotic strives to create spaces in which truly beautiful works are made accessible to the public and audiences are given the opportunity to engage actively with the local freelance dance scene.
