“QUARTETT” – Jealousy, anger, love and fear all at once… (Brecht)
Together with four young singers from the Masterclass in Musical Theatre and Voice, and with
the collaboration of the writer and playwright Christoph Hein, the opera singer and
director mariAhusmann presents a musical theatre collage featuring works by Aperghis, Berg
(Büchner), Francesconi (H. Müller), Ligeti, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Weilt and others.
Four young singers and a pianist embark together on an emotional
journey that explores the grandest of emotions, the facets of falling in love and its opposites
. Works by a wide variety of composers and from different eras – with a focus
on contemporary music – are woven together into a coherent narrative.
The result is an evening that combines music and dramatic storytelling in a unique way,
allowing the audience to experience the familiar in a new light whilst playfully transcending musical boundaries. The
international ensemble brings together diverse artistic perspectives
and fosters a vibrant dialogue about emotions, relationships and human
encounters.
& Gegenrede – CHRISTOPH HEIN
‘Fancy something new’?
You’ll hear some unusual vocal techniques – coughing, clicking, tremolo,
laughter, wailing, but also ‘beautiful singing’ with trills, portamenti and vibrato. Both
form part of the standard repertoire of a contemporary singer-performer. The Studio for
Music Theatre has put together a new, exciting, moving and daring programme
and is counting on an audience that’s once again “in the mood for something new”.
