How can we conceive of a dance repertoire that goes beyond what we already know and value? This question forms the starting point for the project “Bazm (Repertoire)” by the Iranian choreographer Armin Hokmi, which will celebrate its German premiere at the Radialsystem in July 2026. The work devises a fully constructed repertoire that turns the very concept itself into a lens through which the recognition, authentication and conception of dance and choreography are actively questioned.

With subtlety and precision,Armin Hokmi and a groupofinternationalfemale artistsbringa choreography to the stage whose movement material – though impulsive –is absorbedby the dancers’ bodieslike delicately crafted sculptures. Persistently, phrase by phrase, the dance takes on new forms, its gaze shifting alternately inwards and outwards. Movements springing from the heart and the bones, subtle shifts and twitching gestures – at times completely unrestrained, at others gentle and patient – reveal what it means to create a world together: a chamber of wonders of dance.
