The programme focuses on two fascinating female artists from around 1600: the Japanese dancer and theatre maker Izumo no Okuni and the Italian composer Isabella Leonarda. They lived in an era when women enjoyed significant artistic freedom, before the arts became increasingly the preserve of men.
Through a fusion of Baroque music and contemporary dance, the programme traces the lives of these two extraordinary figures.
The programme “Flos Vanus – Adabana” tells of the fleeting blossoms of art, of extroverted madness and spiritual asceticism; it celebrates the creativity of women who were ahead of their time.
