. . . with this strangely promising sentence begins a theatrical journey through the absurdities of everyday life, through the tragicomic nature of human existence. Inspired by the visual language of Swedish film director Roy Andersson, the ZENTRIFUGE ensemble stages a series of short, condensed episodes – snapshots in which time seems to stand still, and past, present and future flow into one another. From these scenic fragments, a profound, grotesque and poetic tableau of the human condition gradually emerges – leaving plenty of room for reflection. Despite many quirky and comical moments, the performance is permeated by a tone of melancholy that points to the darker sides of our existence: loneliness, exhaustion, futile waiting, or experiences of violence and war. And the enchanted venue in the old cemetery in Prenzlauer Berg also serves as a gentle yet relentless reminder of the finitude of all life.
