PROXIMA | Stefania Petracca & Rieko Okuda

Proxima is a project of improvisation where dance music and poetic text mix and transform space and imagination. It is a performance where dancer and musician create immediate compositions, and through poetry and voice establish spatial communication and emotional power to the around. It is based on Instant Composition and approaches surrounding and inner perceptions using the word and the voice as the main element of unification.

In the work the artists mix Japaneses texts with verses and poetry of italian conteporary poetess (Mariangela gualtieri, Oriel Pozzuoli). The merging of different languages (by voice of musician and dancer), their intonations, melodies and rhythm, translate another layer of interpretation.

The poetic text passes through a body in movement to evoke choreography and make internal perceptions connect with collective memory. There is a collective memory inscribed into gestures and body movements, that the voice discloses.
